THURSDAY, SEPT 8, AND FRIDAY, SEPT 9, from 11:00
At THE RESIDENTIAL CENTER AMALIA AND CHIEF RABBI DR. MOSES ROSEN

The Age4 Community Art Centre (2009-present) is a socio-artistic project created within the Moses Rosen Residential Centre for the Elderly. Following the experience of working together for 18 months, the residents of the home together with a team of artists and performers launched, on May 30, 2011, the "Age4 Community Art Centre". Together they created several dance and community theatre performances, based on the personal stories of the home residents, while advocating against ageism. The Age4 Community Arts Centre is a space dedicated to promoting community art with institutionalised people through socio-performative practices.

Films have an extraordinary opening in communities. Thanks to them you travel to different spaces, pass through time, wait, turn back and dance when everybody’s dancing. Films were also our first connection to the residents at Moses Rosen. We started to get to know each other by watching one film a week, and only then we danced together.

The films we selected for the BIDFF screenings at the Age4 Community Center are precious journeys, with the body as a political instrument at their centers, fighting in dance steps.

Line-up:

September 8:  Trumpets in the Sky, Tehura and TARJETA ROJA.

September 9: Amani, ag:au and Nicholas Brothers: Stormy Weather.

About Paula Dunker/ Paul Dunca (RO)

Paula Dunker/ Paul Dunca promises that her (artistic) work is based on the analysis of systems of representation, production and creation. She works most of the time with the body. She’s the daughter of Romanian contemporary dance, the sister of local political theatre, the mother of the queer clubbing scene in Bucharest, and (together with Alex Bălă) the initiator of the techno-faggothique music genre. She confronts existing patterns, helps to build possible new worlds and heal this one.
