SATURDAY, SEPT 9, from 16:30
AT CINÉMA ELVIRE POPESCO

Blurred Moves stages powerful performances that reflect the pervasive anxiety and hope that lie beneath the surface, urging us to confront our demons and shape our collective destiny. In SOMA, an uncanny gathering goes through visceral experiences of pleasure. In Demons, a raw dance mirrors the challenges of climate change in inner struggles. A competitive obsession of an athlete, the untold burden of a young man at a house party in rural Alabama and the depths of the human mind intertwine to complete the last selection of short films in the festival.

SOMA

10:56, 2023, UK
D: Arturo Bandinelli
C: Kwam Collective

A contemporary myth on the genesis of the human body, SOMA unfolds in two parallel dimensions: an infinite black hole where entities exist outside linear space and time; and a labyrinthine house where an uncanny gathering is taking place. As the free-associative, dreamlike narrative unfolds, different characters go through visceral experiences of pleasure, enchantment, pain and death.

Boléro

16:51, 2023, FR
D: Nans Laborde-Jourdàa

Fran is in his hometown to rest and visit his mother. Following the jerky rhythm of Bolero, this journey along the paths of memory and desire will lead him and the whole village to a joyfully chaotic climax.

ALOW

6:44, 2022, DE
D: Tanja Bombach
C: Phoenix Chase-Meares, Jos McKain

A hallucinatory, underground and dream-like night walk where three different escapist scenarios are taking place. Reflections on a state of mind of pervasive anxiety, loss of control and trepidation luring under the surface translated through movement, disguise and surroundings.

I HAVE NO LEGS, AND I MUST RUN

14:53, 2022, CN
D: Yue Li

An athlete who is past his prime is struggling with his injuries. The arrival of a talented new member of his team plants the seeds of jealousy in the Protagonist’s mind.

DEMONS

4:48, 2023, CH
D: Humbi Entress

Against the breathtaking backdrop of a melting glacier in the Swiss Alps, Demons captures the pain and frustration of fighting our inner demons amidst the challenges of climate change. Through the gloom, there is a glimmer of hope, a sense that if we can only find the strength to fight our inner demons, we can still make a difference, still change the course of our collective destiny.

I REMEMBER IT RAINED

D: Connor Simpson

As worlds collide and unravel at a house party in rural Alabama, a young man struggles under the weight of an untold burden. He searches for catharsis and connection, but cannot seem to find the tools or vocabulary he needs.
