In this triptych of immersive VR experiences, you are invited to step into three distinct virtual worlds—across continents, across senses, across the invisible lines that connect us. Travel the Earth as a quiet observer among eight billion lives; dive into the depths of a public pool, where bodies shift and transform through water and dance; wander a surreal forest alongside a deaf child, learning to communicate without words.

The journeys proposed by BIDFF VR ’25 remind us that each body holds a story, each encounter a new way of seeing. In a world of constant noise and motion, these experiences offer space for reflection, empathy, and unexpected connection—a quiet thread of intimacy that keeps us going forward in an overwhelming global web.

8 BILLION SELVES

24’, 2024, NL
D: Nemo Vos (Tibor de Jon)

There are 8 billion people living on Earth now. 8 billion people. 8 billion different faces. 8 billion different stories. On one planet. Nemo Vos’ VR work takes the scenic route across this planet. In the shoes of an observing visitor, we travel through the world where 8 billion people are born, work, wage war, love, dance, create art, and die. What you see, what you experience, is something only you can experience like this. Only you. Among 8 billion others.

BODIES OF WATER

10’, 2024, CA
D: Chélanie Beaudin-Quintin

Bodies of Water invites you to hold your breath and let yourself be transported and transformed by water in the company of curious individuals. As night falls, they invade a public swimming pool. These bodies of water, immersed in the watery mass, transgress the limits of their natural environment and metamorphose. They then engage in a contemporary dance that reveals them differently. The aquatic environment makes them supple and light, but also vulnerable and combative. This poetic mass, encompassing and suffocating, unites, separates and constitutes them.

EDDIE AND I

22’, 2024, FR, DE, IL
D: Maya Shekel

How do you face the unknown?

Eight-year-old deaf Ron fears his first camping trip. His mother comforts him with a story about ‘Eddie the Camper,’ a friendly forest monster. Despite her efforts, Ron’s fear lingers. After falling asleep, he awakens in a surreal forest and meets you, as Eddie. Together, you embark on an adventure, but there’s a barrier: Ron can’t hear, and you don’t know sign language. In this VR journey, you’ll join Ron, learn to communicate, and navigate the forest together.
